Dr. Fogarty received his medical degree from Jefferson Medical College. He completed an internship and residency at Georgetown University Medical Center in Washington, DC, followed by a hematology fellowship at the National Heart, Lung and Blood Institute at the National Institutes of Health.
Dr. Fogarty subsequently became a clinical research fellow in the hematology section, department of laboratory medicine in the Warren Grant Magnuson Clinical Center of the National Institutes of Health. In 2005, Dr. Fogarty joined the University of California-San Francisco (UCSF) as assistant clinical professor of medicine, director of the Adult Hemophilia Program of the Comprehensive Hemophilia Treatment Center.
