Mr. Patrick Axon is an accredited ENT surgeon with a sub-speciality interest in otology, hearing implants and skull base surgery. His research interests include the management of pulsatile tinnitus; maximising hearing perception in cochlear implant users and the creation of the "normal ear" following middle ear surgery. He has an International reputation for the management of middle and inner ear disease as well as skull base pathology, accepting referrals from around the UK and Internationally. He is currently on the Council of the British Society of Otology and British Skull Base Society and Chairs the National Acoustic Neuroma Audit. Mr Axon is a core member of the skull base and cochlear implant multidisciplinary teams. He is one of the National leads for the management of Neurofibromatosis Type 2 (NF2) and leads the Auditory Brainstem Implant Programme. He runs the highly competitive Cambridge otology and skull base fellowships that attract surgical trainees from around the World.
