Patricia Mcgettiga MD, FRCPI, FRACP

Dr. Patricia McGettigan trained in pharmacy and then in medicine at the University of Dublin, Trinity College. She joined the Department of Clinical Pharmacology at the University of Newcastle, New South Wales, Australia in 1997, developing skills in pharmacoeconomics and medicines evaluation, undertaking epidemiological studies of cardiovascular side effects associated with non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, working as clinician in general medicine and clinical toxicology, and leading the medicine component of the final year undergraduate B.Med. curriculum at the University of Newcastle. Moving to Hull York Medical School in 2007, she co-developed the final year curriculum, set up and led the interprofessional training ward, prescribing teaching program, and whole class clinical teaching program. She joined Professor Mark Caulfield’s group at WHRI in October 2011 undertaking responsibility for clinical pharmacology and therapeutics teaching in the undergraduate medical curriculum, contributing to patient care in the cardiology unit at The London Hospital and the WHRI-led specialist hypertension clinic at Barts Hospital, continuing research in pharmacoepidemiology and medical education, and collaborating on medicines access research with the QMUL Global Health, Policy and Innovation Unit.
