Patricia E. Deegan PhD

Patricia E. Deegan, PhD, is a principal with Pat Deegan & Associates, LLC. For over 30 years, she has been a thought leader and disruptive innovator in the field of behavioral health recovery. Dr. Deegan founded a health technology company run by and for people in recovery, with the mission to bring consumer voice and choice to the center of the clinical care team. Toward this end, she developed the CommonGround program, which includes the Hearing Distressing Voices Simulation, the award-winning CommonGround software, the online Recovery Library, and the CommonGround Academy. She is an activist in the disability rights movement and has lived her own journey of recovery after being diagnosed with schizophrenia as a teenager. Dr. Deegan is an adjunct professor at the Dartmouth Institute at the Geisel School of Medicine at Dartmouth College. She received her PhD in clinical psychology from Duquesne University.
