Patricia A. Rutherford, RN, MS, Vice President, Institute for Healthcare Improvement (IHI), is responsible for leading innovation work in IHI's clinical office practice redesign, improving access and flow in specialty practices, optimizing care coordination and transitions in care, and the Transforming Care at the Bedside initiative.
She is also the co-investigator for the STate Action on Avoidable Rehospitalizations (STAAR) initiative. Her skills include knowledge of process improvement, innovation, and idealized design; coaching clinicians, staff, and senior leaders on process improvement; and managing all aspects of large-scale performance improvement initiatives.
