Dr. Panagiotis Skendros is a Professor of Internal Medicine at the First Department of Internal Medicine of the University Hospital of Alexandroupolis. He graduated from the Medical School of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki and trained in Internal Medicine at the Infectious Diseases Hospital and Hippokration Hospital in Thessaloniki. He received his PhD in Immunology at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. He received advanced training in Immunology & Immunogenetics at the CERVI of Pitie-Salpetriere Hospital, and at the INSERM/UPMC UMRS 945, in Paris.

His research interests and key publications focus on innate immunity mechanisms in inflammation, thrombosis, and infection. He is the coordinator and PI in collaborative research projects funded by GSRT (GR) and ERDF (EU). He works as a consultant at the University Hospital of Alexandroupolis with a special interest in patients with systemic autoimmune and autoinflammatory diseases. He is member of the Advisory Board of The European Society for Translational Medicine (EUSTM) and member of the Scientific Advisory Committee and the Ethics Review Board of the University Hospital of Alexandroupolis.
