Dr. Ramos is Chief of the Division of Pediatric Infectious Diseases. He has served as Chairman of the Infection Control Committee at Miami Children’s Hospital since 1984 and is the current Hospital Epidemiologist. Author of multiple professional articles and a frequent speaker on disease related topics, section chief editor, International Pediatrics, and moderator of the hospital’s annual pediatric postgraduate course.

Dr. Ramos earned his Medical Degree from the University of Santiago in Spain, followed by postgraduate training at University Hospital, Jacksonville. He completed pediatric residencies at Jackson Memorial Hospital, Miami, and Driscoll Foundation Children’s Hospital, Corpus Christi, Texas as well as a fellowship in pediatric infectious diseases at the University of Texas Medical School, Houston. Dr Ramos is Board Certified in Pediatric Infectious Disease.

His primary professional interest includes rapid diagnosis of viral infections, and treatment of immunocompromised patients. Dr. Ramos has lectured extensively on bacterial resistance and the treatment of respiratory tract infections. He is a member of the American Academy of Pediatrics and the Pediatric Infectious Disease Society.
