Dr Osman Ahmed graduated from the University of Nottingham in 2002 with BSc (Hons) in Physiotherapy and initially worked for the Football Association with the England Amputee Football squad in 2003.

Dr Ahmed commenced his postgraduate studies in 2006 and graduated with a Postgraduate Diploma in Sports Physiotherapy from the University of Otago, New Zealand. He received his PhD from the University of Otago, New Zealand in 2013 where his research was focused on the use of Facebook to assist recovery from sports-related concussion. He has published widely in the fields of sports concussion, social media, and eHealth.

Dr Ahmed is currently working as an outpatient physiotherapist at Poole Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, and has worked as an itinerant physiotherapist for the Football Association since 2003. He attended the 2008 Paralympic Games in Beijing as the Physiotherapist for the England Cerebral Palsy Football squad, and now works for the Football Association with several of the England disability football squads. He is a co-founder of the FA Centre for Disability Football Research, and is a board member of the Institute of Sports and Exercise Medicine
