Dr. Navarro graduated from the Faculty of Medicine at the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile in 1990. He trained in radiology at the Hospital Militar, in Santiago, Chile and completed a fellowship in paediatric radiology at SickKids in 2000. After working as staff paediatric radiologist at Clínica Alemana de Santiago, Chile, he returned to SickKids in April 2001.

His present work is in the area of general paediatric body imaging, with special interest in sonography and abdominal imaging. His most recent research has been focused on reviewing the diagnosis and management of intestinal intussusception, the use of sonography in the evaluation of diaphragmatic motion, and the usefulness of sonography in the management of patients with necrotizing enterocolitis among other topics.

Dr. Navarro is in charge of coordinating teaching rounds in ultrasound for residents and fellows and is currently the director of the Paediatric Radiology Fellowship Program.
