Oscar Arrieta is a Professor and Chief of the Section of Thoracic Medical Oncology at the National Cancer Institute, Tlalpan, Mexico City, Mexico. Dr. Oscar Arrieta is strongly dedicated to clinical and translational research in the field of Thoracic Oncology. Since 2005, he has been head of the Thoracic Oncology Unit and Laboratory of Personalized Medicine at the National Institute of Cancer in México City (Incan). Additionally, Dr. Arrieta is a faculty member of the National Autonomous University of México (UNAM), with more than 25 years of experience. Currently, he is a Medical Oncology and Thoracic Oncology professor.

Research activities for Dr. Arrieta include the assessment of predictive and prognostic markers for lung cancer treatment, the development of novel therapeutic approaches in lung cancer, mesothelioma, and brain metastases as well as quality of life and disease burden issues in lung cancer patients, including economic aspects and treatment access. He is actively involved in the conception, conduction, and coordination of clinical trials in the field of lung cancer.

Dr. Arrieta is an active researcher of the Southwest Oncology Group (SWOG) as well as a member of the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO), the European Respiratory Society (ERS), and the International Association for the Study of Lung Cancer (IASLC), for which he serves as the regional representative in Mexico and Central America. He is the author or co-author of more than 220 publications in peer-reviewed journals, with more than 15,000 citations.
