Dr. Orrin Devinsky, MD, is a leading American neurologist and Professor of Neurology, Neurosurgery, and Psychiatry at the NYU Grossman School of Medicine. He serves as the Director of the NYU Langone Comprehensive Epilepsy Center, where he has been instrumental in advancing care, research, and surgical treatment for people with epilepsy and related disorders.
Dr. Devinsky earned his medical degree from Harvard Medical School in 1982 and completed his neurology residency at New York Presbyterian–Weill Cornell Medical Center, followed by a fellowship at the National Institutes of Health. He is board-certified in Neurology by the American Board of Psychiatry & Neurology.
His career has been defined by both clinical excellence and scientific innovation. Dr. Devinsky has published hundreds of peer-reviewed articles and book chapters on epilepsy and related fields, and he has contributed to the development of numerous antiseizure medications and therapeutic approaches. His research interests include sudden unexpected death in epilepsy (SUDEP), sudden unexplained death in children (SUDC), genetic epilepsies, cannabidiol therapies, and neurostimulation strategies.
