Omid Mehrpour MD

Omid Mehrpour acquired his MD in 2001 from the Birjand University of Medical Sciences. He then finished his Specialty in Forensic medicine and toxicology at Tehran University of Medical Sciences; He was working as an assistant professor at Birjand University of Medical (2009-2018). In 2014, I got a Fellowship in clinical toxicology from Mashhad University of Medical Sciences. He was promoted to Associate Professor of Clinical Toxicology at Birjand University of Medical Sciences in 2015. In 2012, he established the Medical Toxicology and Drug Abuse Research Center (MTDRC) at Birjand University of Medical Sciences, and he was the director of MTDRC till 2010. In 2016 he established a referral poisoning ward in South Khorasan province. He was the head of the poisoning ward until 2018. He has conducted over 50 research projects and a thesis in BUMS.

In 2012, he was awarded the best research project at the Union Congress of Toxicology. He has collaborated with the Asia Pacific Association of Medical Toxicology since 2008. In 2017, he got an award from the Asia Pacific Medical Association. He had been awarded as the best researcher of BUMS (2011-2018). In 2020, he got his second fellowship in medical toxicology at Rocky Mountain Poison and Drug Center (RMPDC) in Denver, USA. He has been collaborating with the Toxicology Investigators Consortium (ToxIC) Registry as well as the data registry in several studies in the US. He has published several original and review articles in the field of medical toxicology and drug overdose. Besides this, he is an editorial board member of journals such as Current Clinical Pharmacology (https://benthamscience.com/journals/current-clinical-pharmacology/editorial-board/), Iranian Journal of Toxicology, Journal of Surgery and Trauma, and Journal of Modern Care. He works as a section editor in the Journal of DARU Journal of Pharmaceutical Sciences.

Omid did so much research in the field of medical toxicology. Up to now, he has published 200 articles in the leading journals in the field of toxicology such as Clinical Toxicology, Daru, Human and Experimental Toxicology, Basic and Clinical Pharmacology, and Toxicology, Toxicology Letter. His works have been cited 3800 times by researchers from all over the world. Moreover, He did more than 200 reviews for 50 leading journals in the field and recipient of the 2018 Publons award for placing in the top 1% of reviewers in Assorted. Also, in 2019, he got a Publons award for placing in the top 1% of reviewers in the field of pharmacology and toxicology and got an international award for top editors in journals related to medical toxicology.
