Omar Zalatimo completed his undergraduate education at Bucknell University in Lewisburg, Pa., and completed his neurosurgical residency and fellowship in stereotactic and functional neurosurgery at Penn State Hershey Medical Center in Hershey, Pa. While there, he also earned master's degrees in Public Health and Health Administration from Penn State University.

Dr. Zalatimo received a number of awards and commendations, including induction to the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society, Mark J. Young International Health Policy Scholarship and the Highmark Blue Shield Fellowship Award for Academic Achievement. Dr. Zalatimo offers a personalized approach to the most advanced minimally invasive surgery for the brain and spine. He reserves surgical treatment as a last resort after thorough consideration of all appropriate non-surgical treatments.

Dr. Zalatimo is an active member of the American Association of Neurological Surgeons, the Congress of Neurological Surgeons, the American College of Surgeons and the American Medical Association. He has co-authored more than 50 peer-reviewed articles, book chapters, and abstracts. His active clinical and research interests are in the treatment of simple and complex spinal problems, brain and spinal tumors, brain hemorrhages, Chiari malformations, adult hydrocephalus, epilepsy, pain, trigeminal neuralgia, spinal stimulation, spasticity, peripheral nerve disorders, and deep brain stimulation.
