Olof Backman took his medical degree in 2006 at Umeå University. His surgical training was carried out for many years in Stockholm. Olof holds specialist degrees in both general surgery and plastic surgery. He has worked with reconstructive plastic surgery both in Stockholm and at Norrland University Hospital. Olof has a doctorate at Karolinska Institutet with a thesis that dealt with the positive and negative effects of bariatric surgery. He is currently involved in various research projects, including surgery for rectus diastasis. Olof currently holds a position as chief physician at the plastic surgery clinic at Norrland University Hospital, where he is responsible for the development of, among other things, abdominoplasty, and breast reductions. At Aleris, he carries out, among other things, all forms of breast surgery, tummy tucks, arm/thigh plastic surgery, liposuction, skin changes, fat transplants, eyelid surgery, and scar revisions.
Olof is a member of the Swedish Plastic Surgery Association and the Swedish Microsurgery Association and he regularly participates in both Swedish and international courses and conferences.
