Olivia N. Gilbert, MD, MSc, FACC, is a cardiologist and Associate Professor in the Section of Cardiovascular Medicine at Wake Forest University School of Medicine and a physician at Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. She specializes in advanced heart failure and transplant cardiology, with clinical expertise in the management of complex cardiovascular conditions, including cardiomyopathy, heart transplantation, and mechanical circulatory support such as ventricular assist devices.
Dr. Gilbert received her MD from Eastern Virginia Medical School and completed her residency in internal medicine at Georgetown University Hospital. She subsequently pursued fellowship training in cardiovascular disease at Wake Forest University School of Medicine, followed by advanced fellowship training in heart failure and transplant cardiology at the University of North Carolina Health Care System. She also completed additional graduate study at the London School of Economics.
Her academic work focuses on improving the care of patients with heart failure and other advanced cardiovascular diseases. She has contributed to research and clinical guidelines related to hypertension, heart failure management, and cardiovascular imaging, and she participates in national cardiovascular initiatives through organizations such as the American College of Cardiology.
