Dr. Šubrt originally worked as a physician (functional and stereotactic neurosurgery, until 92), and like many other younger physicians moved to a managerial position after the political upheavals in the Czech Republic. He ran a state-owned specialised centre for cardiovascular and neurological diseases, after which he moved to the private sector and worked as a CEO and later as an acquisition projects consultant at Agel, the largest healthcare group in CEE. Subsequently he worked for Phoenix, and was employed as the CEO of Euroclinicum, a group of smaller hospitals, clinics and laboratories in the Czech Republic. A further aspect of his career is his own business. He founded the Academy of Healthcare Management (www.ahcm.cz), an educational platform offering MBA and LL.M. programmes for healthcare professionals in cooperation with US universities, and arranging seminars and conferences on healthcare management topics. He has developed an integrated health care provider of concierge medicine (www.programHplus.cz), which offers complex preventive, diagnostic and therapeutic care. This is the only healthcare delivery provider in the CEE region, which offers clients and physicians EHR with a full, detailed online medical history.
