Dr. Oldrich Coufal, PhD was born in Brno, where he later studied general medicine at the Faculty of Medicine of Masaryk University. He successfully completed his studies in 1999. From 1999 to 2001, he worked as a doctor at the Surgical Clinic of the Faculty of Medicine of Masaryk University and also at the University Hospital. He completed an internship in the far west. In 2001, he studied for a month at the Mayo Clinic in the USA. In 2002, he obtained a first-degree certification in surgery. A year later, he completed a doctoral study program at the Faculty of Medicine of Masaryk University in the field of oncology, earning a PhD.

From 2003 to 2006, he was a researcher at the Center for Biostatistics and Analysis of the Faculty of Medicine and Natural Sciences of Masaryk University in Brno. In 2006, he visited America for the second time, this time in New York. In 2009, he obtained a specialist qualification in the field of surgery. In 2013, he became the owner of a certificate of special professional competence to practice the profession of a doctor in the field of microsurgery. He is also the owner of the diploma of lifelong education of doctors of the Czech Medical Chamber. To make matters worse, in 2015 Doc. MD Oldrich Coufal, PhD habilitated as associate professor of the Faculty of Medicine of Masaryk University, in the field of Surgery. In his habilitation thesis, he dealt with reducing the radicality of surgical treatment of breast cancer. 

Doc. MD Oldrich Coufal, PhD works as a doctor in his hometown at the surgical oncology clinic of the Faculty of Medicine of Masaryk University and also at the Masaryk Institute of Oncology. Since 2011, he has been a senior researcher at the regional center of applied molecular oncology. Since 2015, he has been an associate professor at the Department of Surgical Oncology, Faculty of Medicine, Masaryk University. Among other things, he teaches the subjects of propaedeutics and clinical oncology at the university where he himself studied. Since 2004, he has been the chairman of the Ethics Committee of the Masaryk Institute of Oncology and since 2014 a member of the Scientific Council of the MOU and head of the oncosurgical education and research program of the MOU. Doc. MD Oldrich Coufal, PhD is the head of the Clinic of Operative Oncology and the head of the Department of Mammocutaneous and Oncoplastic Surgery, and the deputy's head of the Clinic of Operative Oncology. The doctor is one of the top doctors in his field.
