Oana M. Dumitrascu, MD, MSc, FAHA, FAAN is a Professor of Neurology and Consultant in the Division of Stroke and Cerebrovascular Diseases at Mayo Clinic in Phoenix, Arizona. She also holds a joint appointment in the Department of Ophthalmology and is recognized internationally for her expertise in vascular neurology, neuro-ophthalmology, cerebrovascular disorders, and the application of artificial intelligence in neurological care.

Dr. Dumitrascu’s research focuses on stroke, vascular cognitive impairment, dementia, retinal biomarkers, and neurodegenerative diseases. She leads innovative investigations exploring how retinal imaging, neuroimaging, and artificial intelligence can be used to predict and monitor conditions such as Alzheimer's disease, distinguish between different forms of cognitive decline, and improve outcomes in cerebrovascular disorders. Her work also examines telestroke systems, tele-ophthalmology, acute vision loss, and advanced neurovascular imaging techniques.

After earning her medical degree from the University of Medicine and Pharmacy Târgu Mureș in Romania, Dr. Dumitrascu completed residency training in Ophthalmology, Internal Medicine, and Neurology, followed by fellowships in Neuro-Ophthalmology at the Jules Stein Eye Institute and Vascular Neurology at Mayo Clinic. She also earned a Master’s degree in Health Systems Management from the University of Bucharest.
