Dr. Betts graduated summa cum laude with a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Michigan followed by his graduation from the University of Michigan School of Dentistry. He completed his residency in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at the University of Michigan Medical Center, and simultaneously earned his Masters of Science degree in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery.

Dr. Betts entered the academic community first serving as the Assistant Professor of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at the University of Pennsylvania, then in New Jersey as an Associate Professor/Chairman of the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery.

In 1999, Dr. Betts returned to Michigan and accepted a position at the University of Michigan as Associate Professor/Chair of the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery/Hospital Dentistry. Prior to joining our private practice in 2002, Dr. Betts served as the chair of Hospital Dentistry in the University of Michigan Health System.
