Normala Bt. Hj. Basiron

Dr. Normala Basiron is the Head and Senior Consultant of the Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery Department in Kuala Lumpur Hospital. She is also the Deputy Chairman of the Specialist Complex and Ambulatory Care Centre of Kuala Lumpur Hospital, President of the Malaysian Society of Plastic & Reconstructive Surgeons and Member of the National Technical Committee on Wound Management in the Ministry of Health Malaysia (MOH).

Her involvement in the training of the Plastic & Reconstructive Surgeons to be, is tremendous as she is one of the Honorary Lecturer of University Sains Malaysia (USM) cum Coordinator for the Masters in Plastic Surgery Program, Committee Member of Subspecialty Training Development (Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery) in the MOH and Member of the Conjoint Committee for the Post Graduate Training Program in MOH. She has been regularly conducting courses related to Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery such as Flap Dissection Course, Microsurgery Workshop and Burn Workshop with collaboration from world renowned Plastic & Reconstructive Surgeons.

She is also involved in the development of the curriculum as well as the trainer for the MOH Advanced Diploma in Perioperative for staff nurses & paramedics. Her main areas of interest are Flaps & Reconstructive Microsurgery, Breast Surgery, Cleft Lip & Palate Surgery and Wound Management. She is also actively involved in the volunteer work in the Cleft Lip/ Palate Surgery Project abroad with Malaysian Medical Relief Society (MERCY).
