Dr. Noriya Uedo is the Vice-director of the Department of Gastrointestinal Oncology in Osaka Medical Center for Cancer and Cardiovascular Diseases.
Dr. Uedo graduated from the School of Medicine, Kagoshima University in 1992. In 1994, he started training in Gastrointestinal Oncology and Endoscopy in the Osaka Medical Center for Cancer and Cardiovascular Diseases after finishing his internship in the Kawanishi City Hospital. In 1996, he obtained the fellowship for postgraduate study at the Osaka University, and he finished the study and obtained doctor degree of gastroenterology in 2004. The thesis of his PhD was on mechanism of Helicobacter pylori associated gastric carcinogenesis.
He has a wide spectrum of research exposure and interest which includes 1) Gastric carcinogenesis, 2) New endoscopic imaging of the digestive tract and its clinical application, 3) Advanced endoscopic treatment of gastrointestinal neoplasms and its training system.
Dr. Uedo serves as an associated editor of Digestive Endoscopy and a councilor of the Japan Gastroenterological Endoscopic Society, the Japanese Gastroenterology Association and the Japanese Gastric Cancer Association.
