Noreen Heer Nicol PhD, RN, FNP, NEA-BC

Noreen Heer Nicol, PhD, RN, FNP, NEA-BC is an Associate Professor at the University of Colorado College of Nursing. Prior to this position, she was at Children’s Hospital Colorado and National Jewish Health. Her nursing career spans over 35 years as a clinician, administrator, and educator, with roles including Chief Nursing Officer, Chief Clinical Officer, and Nurse Practitioner. She completed her PhD in Clinical Science at the University of Colorado, her MS in Nursing at the University of Utah (as a Family Nurse Practitioner), and her BS in Nursing at the University of Northern Colorado.

Dr Nicol is recognized as an international expert on skin health and skin care. She is a past President of both the Dermatology Nurses’ Association and the National Federation for Specialty Nursing Organizations. Currently, she is US Advisory Board Member for the International Skin Care Nursing Group. Atopic dermatitis and allergic skin disease are her clinical areas of interest. Nicol is the recipient of numerous state and national awards. These honours and awards include the 2003 Colorado Nightingale Award for Nursing Excellence, the 2003 Distinguished Alumni of the University of Northern Colorado for Contribution to Health Award, the Sigma Theta Tau Image Maker Award, and the President’s Award of the Dermatology Nurses’ Association.
