Noortje Thielen MD, PhD

N. Thielen specializes in hematology (diseases of the blood, bone marrow, lymph nodes, and coagulation). Dr. Thielen studied medicine at the VU University in Amsterdam. She trained as an internist and hematologist from 2004 to 2010 at the Kennemer Gasthuis in Haarlem and the VUMC in Amsterdam.

From 2010 to 2015 she worked as an internist-hematologist at the VUmc. Here she also conducted research into the disease of chronic myeloid leukemia (CML). In 2015 she obtained her Ph.D. with the thesis “Chronic myeloid leukemia: evolving from fatal stem cell disease to cure”.

After this, Dr. Thielen worked for another year at the AMC in Amsterdam, after which she made the transition to the Diakonessenhuis in 2016.

Dr. Thielen is a member of the national HOVON (Hemato-Oncology for Adults Netherlands) working groups on multiple myeloma and myeloproliferative diseases in which new guidelines and clinical studies are being set up.
