Nkechi Onyeneho has held a tenure position at the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, Nigeria since 2005 and was appointed Professor of Medical Sociology/Anthropology in 2017. She has lived and worked all her life in Africa where she is well acknowledged as a leading research expert on health systems, neglected tropical diseases, and access of marginalized groups to health care. Nkechi is highly visible within the public health and child welfare community and academia in Nigeria. Nkechi focuses on multidisciplinary team research with mixed research capability, that addresses issues of access to care among the less privileged. Nkechi has led more than 10 health assessment missions for various organizations including the WHO, UNDP, and UNICEF to mention a few. Nkechi has published more than 40 comprehensive research articles in leading journals and has led many project evaluations, especially on the less privileged and children with disabilities. Nkechi received a Ph.D. (2006) in Medical Sociology/Anthropology, from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka.
