Nikolaos Oikonomou is an Academic Tutor of Health Management at the Hellenic Open University and an external collaborator for the Department of Health Economics of the Greek National School of Public Health. He is also a private General Practitioner consultant/owner of South Rhodes Medical Care. Nikolaos is a specialist in General Practice/Family Medicine. He holds a Postgraduate Diploma in Public Health and an MSc in Health Services Management. He also holds a Ph.D. Degree from the University of Athens in the academic field of health economics and primary care. Nikolaos has received post-graduate training in numerous scientific fields, such as Geriatric Medicine, Emergency Medicine, Substance Abuse, Epidemiology, and Statistics. He has been granted a scholarship from the Greek State Scholarships Foundation (ΙΚΥ), as well as Panhellenic rewards for his research work.
Nikolaos has many years of experience in various salaried healthcare posts. He has worked as a Consultant General Practitioner in the Health Centre of Gennadi, Rhodes for seven years. He has run programs of telemedicine and health promotion in his working environment. Nikolaos has worked as an external collaborator for the Centre for Health Services Research of the Medical School of the University of Athens. He is an author of many manuscripts in Scientific Journals, has participated in 4 books, and has presented his work at numerous National and International Conferences. He has taken part in many research projects, studies, forums, expert panels, and committees. He has acted as a reviewer for the Lancet & Journal of Business Economics and Management.
