Nikhat Parveen is an Associate Professor in the Department of Microbiology, Biochemistry, and Molecular Genetics at Rutgers New Jersey Medical School. She receievd her PhD from the University of Hawaii. She is an NIH-funded investigator and has been studying microbial diseases with a primary focus on tick-borne infections. She also studies syphilis, particularly congenital syphilis. Her research involves both basic and translational studies to fully understand microbial pathogenesis mechanisms associated with disease manifestations and attempt to resolve some clinical issues.
