Mr. Nigel Gummerson is a consultant orthopedic spinal surgeon working in Halifax and Leeds. He specializes in surgery for degenerative conditions of the thoracic and lumbar spine, back pain and sciatica, spinal stenosis, and spinal deformities such as scoliosis and Scheuermann’s kyphosis. He privately practices at Spire Elland Hospital and is the clinical lead for the spinal surgery service at Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust.

Mr. Gummerson is highly-qualified with three Oxford University certificates, a BA (Hons), BM BCh, and MA. Furthermore, he has an MRCS and FRCS (Tr & Orth) from the Royal College of Surgeons of England. He underwent higher specialist training on both the Leeds basic surgical and Yorkshire orthopedic rotations, where he gained experience from a number of centers across West and North Yorkshire. He completed his spinal training with a spinal surgery fellowship in Sheffield, which included a period in the visiting surgeon program with Dr. Lawrence Lenke and Dr. Daniel Riew in St. Louis, USA.

Mr. Gummerson is a leading name in clinical education and research. He is an honorary senior lecturer at the University of Leeds, and he has had work published in leading peer-reviewed journals. He is a member of various professional organizations including the British Orthopaedic Association (BOA), British Association of Spine Surgeons (BASS), and the British Scoliosis Society (BSS).
