Niels Plath, PhD, is Vice President for Synaptic Transmission at H. Lundbeck A/S. He graduated from the Free University Berlin, Germany, in Neurobiology and Molecular Biology and subsequently conducted postdoctoral work for the Human Frontier Science Program at the University Berlin. In 2005, Niels joined Lundbeck Research in Copenhagen, Denmark, and has since then filled different positions as specialist, project manager and line manager within the company.
Niels’ research activities cover molecular, cellular and system aspects of synaptic plasticity in general aspects of learning and memory, as well as in pathological
processes underlying the clinical manifestation of major depression, Schizophrenia and Alzheimer´s disease. This work employs multi-methodological approaches,
including molecular biology, electrophysiology, neurochemistry and behavior.
