Dr. Nicole Shilkofski’s area of research is in the use of high fidelity mannequin simulation and computer-based screen simulation as educational modalities within biomedicine. She is working toward the design, implementation and evaluation of an integrated web-based curriculum to teach pediatric resuscitation via simulation techniques. This curriculum is designed for use at multiple training levels in different specialties and will ultimately be disseminated in residency training programs across the United States through the support of the Association of Pediatric Program Directors. Her ultimate goal is for a modified version of this simulation curriculum to be utilized to teach both neonatal and pediatric resuscitation in developing countries with the aim of reducing infant mortality rates in the developing world.
