Nicolas Franck has been a university professor - hospital practitioner at the Lyon University Hospital since 2005. At the Le Vinatier hospital center, he is responsible for the resource center for psychosocial rehabilitation and cognitive remediation (CRR) and the Left Bank Center center (executing a sector mission in the 3rd, 6th and 8th arrondissements of Lyon and a regional structuring mission for psychosocial rehabilitation with the SUR-CL3R). At the University Claude Bernard Lyon 1, he is coordinator of the DES in psychiatry of Lyon; he was responsible for teaching human sciences in the first and third year of medicine and responsible for teaching psychiatry at the Charles Mérieux Lyon Sud faculty. He has created several university degrees. He has also been the scientific director of EMC-Psychiatrie (Elsevier) since 2013. He has written numerous scientific articles and book chapters. He has also written or coordinated several books intended for professionals or the general public.

Nicolas Franck studied medicine in Lyon, after which he defended a medical thesis on hallucinations in 1998. He was then head of clinic assistant from 1998 to 2002, then university hospital practitioner from 2002 to 2005 at the Le Vinatier hospital center. At the same time, he undertook a science thesis on the cognitive processes likely to promote the production of the first-order symptoms of schizophrenia (under the supervision of Pr. Marc Jeannerod), which he defended in 2001. the research was awarded to him in 2003.
