Nicolas Bourdel MD, PhD

Nicolas Bourdel is a professor of gynecological surgery (CHU of Clermont-Ferrand, France). He received his Ph.D. in computer-assisted surgery. He spent one year as an invited scientist at Johns Hopkins University (Baltimore, MD, USA). As a surgeon, he is specialized in advanced laparoscopic procedures (oncology and deep endometriosis). Professor Bourdel has published numerous articles (more than 160 articles referenced in Medline) and made numerous presentations and conferences on minimally invasive surgery, peritoneal environment, quality of life, and computer-assisted surgery. He is the founder and CEO of SurgAR (www.surgar-surgery.com), a company dedicated to the development of a software suite for augmented reality for minimally invasive surgery. The technology is mainly based on computer vision, artificial intelligence, and deep learning.
