Dr Screaton was appointed Consultant Radiologist in Papworth and Addenbrooke's Hospitals, Cambridge in 2000. He specialises in cardiothoracic radiology and has acted as Radiology Clinical Director in Papworth Hospital 2004 - 12 and President of the British Society of Thoracic Imaging 2009 - 13. His contribution to improved thoracic disease management is recognised by: Regular invitations to speak at & organise national & international meetings and his contribution to specialist guideline groups (British Thoracic Society Radical Lung Cancer Management & National Institute of Clinical Excellence Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis). He is a member of Radiology Steering Group and Co-principle investigator in Papworth Hospital for the UK Lung Cancer Screening Project (UKLS) reading >1200 screening CTs/yr.

He has published widely on cardiothoracic imaging with over 50 papers, has served as research and education lead for the British Society of Thoracic Imaging and is a regular invited speaker at national imaging meetings. He specialises in cardiothoracic imaging in general and in thoracic and cardiac CT in particular with access to state of the art imaging facilities in Papworth Hospital. He performs both general and cardiothoracic diagnostic CT, ultrasound, and plain film reporting as well as image guided biopsy and drainage using CT and ultrasound. He also performs pulmonary MRI and has achieved Level 3 accreditation in Cardiac CT with the British Society of Cardiothoracic Imaging.
