Dr. Nho (Bill) V. Tran, MD, is a board-certified plastic and reconstructive surgeon at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota, specializing in microsurgery, breast reconstruction, cosmetic surgery, and complex reconstructive procedures. He is internationally recognized for his expertise in microsurgical breast reconstruction, autologous tissue reconstruction, aesthetic breast surgery, body contouring, and reconstructive surgery following cancer treatment. His clinical interests also include lower extremity reconstruction, flap surgery, rhinoplasty, liposuction, and advanced reconstructive microsurgery.
Dr. Tran earned his Bachelor of Science in Biology from The Pennsylvania State University and his Doctor of Medicine from Jefferson Medical College of Thomas Jefferson University. He completed a rotating internship at Lehigh Valley Hospital Center, followed by a general surgery residency at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital. He then completed fellowship training in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at Mayo Clinic and an advanced Microsurgery Fellowship at The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center, where he refined his expertise in complex reconstructive microsurgery. He is board certified by both the American Board of Surgery and the American Board of Plastic Surgery.
An accomplished surgeon and educator, Dr. Tran has devoted his career to advancing reconstructive and aesthetic plastic surgery through clinical innovation, research, and education. He has authored numerous peer-reviewed publications and frequently lectures nationally and internationally on microsurgery, breast reconstruction, and reconstructive techniques. His research focuses on improving functional and aesthetic outcomes for patients undergoing reconstructive procedures following cancer and traumatic injuries.
