Since my early training, I have focused my work on the treatment of urinary incontinence and urinary retention in men and women, pelvic organ prolapse, and pelvic floor reconstruction. When I was a medical student, I shadowed a urologist who specialized in pelvic floor disorders. Until then, I was not aware of the prevalence of these problems and how they could negatively impact people's lives. On the positive side, I also witnessed how treatment could turn someone's life around. From that point in time, I have been focused on helping patients with these problems. My training included a two-year fellowship dedicated to these issues. I offer minimally invasive surgical options and mesh-less alternatives to prolapse and incontinence surgery. Pelvic floor reconstruction includes treatment of urethral diverticula, repair of fistulae, bladder augmentation, urinary diversion, and ureteral reimplantation. In my opinion, its imperative that a physician earn the confidence of their patients when dealing with sensitive issues. I actively engage that patient in the decision-making process because the ultimate goal is to improve their quality of life. In my spare time, I enjoy playing volleyball and traveling.
