Emeritus Professor Yeomans AM was the Foundation Dean of Medicine at UWS (2004-2009). He was appointed as a Member of the Order of Australia in January 2013 for significant service to tertiary education, research and clinical practice in the field of medicine.
He was educated at Fish Creek State School, Foster High School, Scotch College Melbourne (Senior Scholarship), University of Melbourne (MBBS), Monash University (MD by thesis), University of Copenhagen (Research Fellow) and Harvard University (Research Fellow). He is a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (RACP), the American College of Gastroenterology, and the American Gastroenterological Association.
He has held hospital appointments at the following Melbourne hospitals: Royal Melbourne Hospital, Alfred Hospital, Austin Hospital, and Western Hospital. His most recent academic appointments, before moving to set up the UWS School of Medicine, were at the University of Melbourne's Foundation Professor of Medicine at Western Hospital, and Associate Dean (Academic Programs) in The University of Melbourne's Faculty of Medicine, Dentistry and Health Sciences.
