Dr. Nestor De la Cruz Munoz, Jr. is a Professor of Surgery, a fellow of the American College of Surgeons, and a diplomate of the American Board of Surgery. He also is a fellow of the American Society for Metabolic Bariatric Surgery. Dr. de la Cruz-Munoz has performed more than 7,000 bariatric surgeries using minimally invasive techniques and was at the forefront of adopting a minimally invasive laparoscopic approach for bariatric surgery.
He is a national leader in outstanding surgical outcomes and has received numerous awards throughout his career. Additionally, he has given many presentations, nationally and internationally, on bariatric and general surgery topics. Dr. de la Cruz-Munoz received his medical degree from the University of Miami School of Medicine after graduating with a BS in biology from Duke University in Durham, North Carolina.
