Neil Vasan, MD, PhD, is a breast oncologist and physician-scientist serving as Assistant Professor of Medicine and Director of Breast Cancer Translational Research at NYU Langone Health. His laboratory (vasanlab.org) studies how kinases and related signaling networks drive breast cancer growth, therapeutic response, and resistance.

He was the final fellow to train under the late José Baselga, whose influence continues to shape his approach to translational oncology. Before joining NYU, he held faculty roles at Memorial Sloan Kettering and Columbia.

His research has been published in Science, Nature, Cancer Cell, and Cancer Discovery, and his honors include the NIH Director’s New Innovator Award (DP2), a Susan G. Komen Career Catalyst Research Grant, recognition as an AACR NextGen Star, and the ASCI Young Physician-Scientist Award. He also serves as Scientific Advisor for PIK3CA Pathbreakers and as Acting Chair and a Standing Member of the FDA’s Oncologic Drugs Advisory Committee (ODAC).
