Neil C. Thomson MD, MBChB, FRCP

Dr.Thomson graduated in medicine from the University of Glasgow and is currently professor of respiratory medicine at the University of Glasgow. He undertook postgraduate training in Glasgow, London and McMaster University, Canada. He is past chair of the scientific committee of the British Lung Foundation and of the National Asthma Task Force Therapy Working Group. He is a former member of the committee for safety of medicines and the SIGN/BTS Steering Group reviewing the British guidelines on asthma management. He is the co-editor of several textbooks on asthma and COPD. In 2004 he was awarded the Tenovus Margaret Maclellan Award as recognition of his contribution to the field of respiratory disorders within Scotland in recent years.
