Dr. Naveen Garg is presently serving as a Professor in the Department of Cardiology, Sanjay Gandhi Postgraduate Institute of Medical Sciences, Lucknow. Dr. Garg graduated with (MBBS) from the Sarojini Naidu Medical College, Agra (SNMC, Agra), India, and received his doctorate in cardiology (DM) from the Sanjay Gandhi Institute of Medical Sciences, Lucknow, India. He is a Diplomat of the National Board of Examination (DNB) in Cardiology. He is a Fellow of the American College of Cardiology (FACC), Fellow of the Society of Cardiac Angiography and Interventions (FSCAI) USA, Fellow of the American College of Angiology (FACA)USA, and Fellow of the Cardiological Society of India (FCSI). For the last 20 years, he is working as a faculty in the department of cardiology.
Dr. Garg is the author of more than 100 publications, including original papers, reviews, case reports, and book chapters in various reputed international and national journals. His main research work has been in the areas of transradial catheterization, stem cell therapy for acute myocardial infarction, pulmonary arterial hypertension, device closure for cardiac defects, and genetic polymorphism in cardiovascular diseases.
Dr. Garg is the reviewer for various reputed international and national journals including the American Heart Journal, Catheterization and Cardiovascular Interventions, International Journal of Cardiology, European Journal of Heart Failure, Cardiology in Young, Cardiology, Indian Heart Journal, Indian Journal of Medical Research, Journal Indian Academy of Clinical Medicine. Dr. Garg is an active member of the Cardiological Society of India, UP Chapter. He has served society in various capacities including Honorary Secretary.
Dr. Garg was awarded a diploma by the European Society of Cardiology (ESC) for his outstanding scientific research work and was presented at its annual Congress 2012 in Munich, Germany. He has been awarded with the Reader's Choice award by the Indian Heart Journal for his unique pioneering work on the PAT technique to overcome difficulty in transradial navigation. He has also been awarded Dhanwantari Samman in Aligarh Mahotsav for his outstanding contribution to the field of Cardiology. He is an active member of several International and National medical organizations, including a Fellow of the American College of Cardiology, a Fellow of the Society of Cardiac Angiography and Interventions, Fellow of the American College of Angiology, a Fellow of the Cardiological Society of India, Associations of Physicians of India and Indian Medical Association (IMA), etc.
