Dr Davies completed his PhD at UCL which explored the quality of end of life care for people with dementia from the family carers perspective. His main research interest is in the field of dementia care, and in particular in the palliative and end of life care stages of dementia.

He has an interest on what the impact of dementia has on family carers, writing several papers on this topic in leading palliative and dementia care journals. He currently leads a research team at UCL focusing on palliative and end of life care for people with dementia.

Dr Davies has secured funding from various funders, including: Marie Curie, The Alzheimer’s Society, and NIHR School for Primary Care Research. His recent work has developed a toolkit of rules-of-thumb for practitioners making end of life care decisions for people with dementia. This has successfully been implemented in several NHS trusts and incorporated as part of the Alzheimer's Society's end of life care training programe (currently under development).

His current work is focusing on the development of an online internet intervention for supporting family carers of people with dementia, using co-design methods and a feasibility study.
