Naser M. Ammash, M.D., is a Professor of Medicine, Mayo Clinic College of Medicine and Science, and a consultant in cardiovascular disease at Mayo Clinic. He is board-certified in cardiovascular diseases, with subspecialty certification in adult congenital heart disease and echocardiography. Dr. Ammash attended the American University of Beirut, Lebanon, medical school and moved to the United States in 1987. Prior to joining Mayo Clinic in 1994, he completed training in internal medicine and adult cardiovascular diseases at the University of Iowa and Louisville, respectively.

Areas of expertise include: Congenital heart disease in adults, Aortic syndromes such as bicuspid aortic valve, Marfan, Loeys-Dietz, Pregnancy and heart disease, Echocardiography: adult and congenital, including transthoracic, stress echocardiography and transesophageal, and Care of patients with cerebrovascular events.

Dr. Ammash has 15 years of experience as a physician leader and administrator at Mayo Clinic Rochester and at Sheikh Shakhbout Medical City in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, where he was the founding CEO of Mayo Clinic Joint Venture, building the foundation for a three-shield complex care destination medical center (2019-2024). His past administrative leadership roles at Mayo Clinic include; Practice Chair of the CV Department at Mayo Clinic Rochester, and Chair of the CV Clinical Practice Committee for Rochester and Mayo Clinic enterprise (2014-2018), co-director of the Echocardiography laboratory (2011-2014), chair of Echocardiography Clinical Practice Committee (2011-2014), director of Echocardiography training program (2008-2011).

Dr. Ammash recently served on the Adult Congenital Heart Disease ABIM Exam Writing Committee and the Adult Cardiovascular ABIM Exam Approval Committee of the American Board of Internal Medicine. He is a physician educator and well-published, with more than 450 invited lectures given in different areas of expertise around the world and more than 150 articles in peer—reviewed major Cardiovascular journals and 20-chapter books.
