Nanna Finnerup, MD, Ph.D., is a Professor in pain research at the Danish Pain Research Center, Department of Clinical Medicine, Aarhus University, Denmark. Nanna Finnerup graduated from the Medical School at Aarhus University in 1993, and after an internship worked at the Department of Neurology and Clinical Neurophysiology at the University of Copenhagen. Since 1998 she has worked at the Danish Pain Research Center at Aarhus University. She obtained her degree in Doctor of Medical Sciences from Aarhus University in 2008 and is currently Professor at the Danish Pain Research Center.

Dr. Finnerup has authored more than 130 refereed publications. Her main research interest is the pathophysiology and therapy of neuropathic pain. Current research areas include spinal cord injury pain, chemotherapy-induced neuropathic pain, painful diabetic polyneuropathy, postsurgical neuropathic pain, thermal sensory integration, neurophysiological assessment of pain mechanisms, placebo mechanisms, neuropharmacology, clinical trials, and systematic reviews.

Dr. Finnerup is a vice-chair of NeuPSIG, the neuropathic pain SIG of IASP, and past president of the Scandinavian Association for the Study of Pain (SASP). She is section editor of the journal PAIN and an Editorial Board Member of the Scandinavian Journal of Pain and Pain Management. She has given a plenary lecture at the World Congress on Pain and the Sir Ludwig Guttman lecture at the International Spinal Cord Injury Society.
