Nani Kavlashvili MD, PhD

Dr. Nani Kavlashvili, MD, PhD, is an Associate Professor of Pediatrics and Coordinator of the Pediatric Clerkship in the American MD Program at Tbilisi State Medical University (TSMU) in Georgia. She also practices as a clinical pediatrician at M. Iashvili Children’s Central Hospital, where she provides care for infants, children, and adolescents. Dr. Kavlashvili earned her PhD from Tbilisi State Medical University, completing advanced academic training early in her career. Her primary fields of interest include child development, immunization, infant and child nutrition, quality of life, and developmental disorders, reflecting her broad commitment to pediatric health and preventive care. She has co-authored national clinical protocols on the diagnosis and management of pediatric diseases, contributing to evidence-based standards of care in Georgia.

In addition to her academic and clinical roles, Dr. Kavlashvili has served as an expert on breastfeeding legislation and enforcement, including acting as a key expert for normative act enforcement control related to the Law on Protection and Promotion of Breastfeeding and Regulation of Artificial Feeding. She works with the Ministry of Health of Georgia and serves as an Authorization and Accreditation Expert at the National Center for Educational Quality Development. She is also a member of several professional organizations, including the National Committee of Immunization Safety. Dr. Kavlashvili’s scholarly work includes approximately 90 peer-reviewed publications, and her research has been cited internationally. As an invited speaker at international pediatric conferences, she shares her insights on pediatric nutrition, public health law awareness among medical staff, and evidence-based policies that support child health.
