Dr. Nancy Sudak was raised in Cleveland, OH, earning her BA at Kenyon College in English literature, and her medical degree at Case Western Reserve University. She moved to Duluth in 1989 to attend the Family Residency Program here. She is the Director of Integrative Health at Essentia Health and the Physician Lead for the Essentia Health Well-Being Team. She and her manager, Kathy Beeksma, RN, BSN, launched the Integrative Health Department at Essentia Health in 2017, which now has 9 clinicians and continues to grow. She is a certified Institute for Functional Medicine practitioner and a founding Diplomate of the American Board of Integrative Holistic Medicine, for which she was also the former Executive Director. She was the founding CEO of the Academy of Integrative Health & Medicine, now based in San Diego.
She has been on the textbook faculty for the Textbook of Integrative Medicine, the Textbook of Natural Medicine, and the Textbook of Functional Medicine. She is on the Scientific Advisory Board for the Institute for Functional Medicine’s compilation of COVID prevention and treatment strategies and is on the Editorial Advisory Board for the indexed journal, Integrative Medicine: A Clinician’s Journal.
