Nancy Selfridge, MD, received her medical training and Doctor of Medicine (MD) degree from Southern Illinois University School of Medicine in 1979 after receiving a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from Illinois State University in 1976. Her family medicine residency training was at Southern Illinois University School of Medicine in Springfield, Illinois, after which she moved to southern Wisconsin.

She spent nearly three decades in clinical practice in family medicine, initially in a small group practice in the town of Sun Prairie, Wisconsin. In 1997, she received an academic appointment as Clinical Assistant Professor for the Department of Family Medicine, University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health in Madison, and continued her practice in Sun Prairie. Dr. Selfridge became certified by the American Board of Integrative and Holistic Medicine in 2003, and in 2005 she became Medical Chief of the Department of Complementary and Alternative Medicine for Group Health Cooperative of South Central Wisconsin. Dr. Selfridge joined Ross University School of Medicine in July of 2009, allowing her to pursue wholeheartedly her interest in teaching medical students.
