Dr. Nadine Attal is a neurologist and pain specialist. She is the Head of the Pain Evaluation and Treatment Center and Associate Professor of Pain at Ambroise Paré Hospital in Boulogne-Billancourt, France. She is also a member of the INSERM U 987 research laboratory studying the pathophysiology and clinical pharmacology of pain. Dr. Natal gained her medical degree from the University of Paris V and her doctorate from the University of Paris VI in France.

Dr. Attal is the Chair of the European Federation of Neurological Societies (EFNS) panel that prepared the Guidelines on the Pharmacological Treatment of Neuropathic Pain and a member of the International Congress on Neuropathic Pain (NeuPSIG) group that wrote the guidelines on the assessment of neuropathic pain. Dr. Natal is a member of several scientific societies, including the EFNS-European Neurological Society Panel on Pain (of which she is the chair), the Management Committee of the NeuPSIG, the Society for Neuroscience, the International Association for the Study of Pain, The French Society for the Study and Treatment of Pain, and The French Society of Neurology. She is also the National Coordinator of the Pain and Palliative Care Course for Medical Students.

Dr. Attal has authored over 60 journal articles and 30 book chapters and lectured extensively on pain. She is the principal investigator of many clinical trials in this area. She is also an advisory editor of several journals, including Pain Medicine, The Clinical Journal of Pain, and the Journal of Back and Muscular Rehabilitation. In addition, she serves as a reviewer for The Journal of Pain, the European Journal of Pain, the Clinical Journal of Pain, and the Journal of Pain and Symptom Management.

Dr. Attal is the recipient of several awards. Among them are the Schering Plough Award on Pain Research, as well as awards from the Fondation de France and the Apicil Foundation for Pain Research. She was awarded the national honor of Chevalier de Légion d’Honneur by the President of France in 2016.
