Nadin Abdel Razeq, RN, Ph.D. is an Associate Professor of Pediatrics and Family Nursing who joined The University of Jordan, School of Nursing in September 2014. Prior to her position at JU, Dr. Abdel Razeq worked at the School of Nursing, Philadelphia University-Jerash City in Jordan from 2013 to 2014. Dr. Abdel Razeq earned her Ph.D. from the Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha, NE, USA (2012), with a focus on neonatal pain expression. In her Ph.D. dissertation, a mixed methodology, using naturalistic observational approaches, was applied to describe how painful experiences influence the newborn's sleep-wake states and behavioral and physiologic pain indicators. Dr. Abdel Razeq earned her MSN in Acute Nursing (2005) from The University of Jordan, and her BSN (2003) from Al-Hashemite University, both located in Jordan. 

Dr. Abdel Razeq is a licensed RN in both Jordan and the USA. She has worked in several hospitals in the areas of Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU), adult intensive and Cardiac Care, and general Medical/Surgical words where she cared for patients with a variety of health issues including preterm newborns intensive caring, pain management during chronic illnesses, and at end-of-life. 

Dr. Abdel Razeq is also a Newborn Developmental Care Specialist; she became a NIDCAP-certified nurse at Blank’s Children Hospital, Camden, NJ, USA in 2012. She is the first NIDCAP-certified professional in Jordan. As a NIDCAP professional, Dr. Abdel Razeq is qualified to make recommendations to support neonates’ development in the NICU based on careful individualized observation and understanding of how neonates communicate their needs to the caregivers. 

Dr. Abdel Razeq focuses her research on improving newborns’ and children’s health care in acute care settings and on supporting their parents. This is especially true when the healthcare issues are related to pain assessment and management, family-centered care, ethical decisions making, and end-of-life care. She served as PI of several nationally and internationally funded projects and co-mentored graduate students’ research projects. She has several scientific papers published in high-impact peer-reviewed journals. Dr. Abdel Razeq keeps professional development through receiving training and updates on novel teaching methods, evidence-based practices, and research in her field, and by being a member of several international organizations such as the International Association of Pain and the National Association of Neonatal Nurses
