Dr Nadia Dabbagh is an Anglo-Arab Child Psychiatrist at Rashid Hospital and Co-Founder of Camali Clinic, UAE. With a refugee father from Palestine and have had to relocate to the UK as a consequence of the war in 1990 herself, Dabbagh experienced the result of trauma and loss on two generations of children. Out of this personal experience, her interest in child psychiatry was sparked. Dr Dabbagh completed her medical training at University College, London before embarking on her general psychiatry training at the Royal Free and Associated Hospitals and further specialist child and adolescent psychiatry training at the Tavistock Clinic, London. She has a BSc and PhD in Medical Anthropology as well as an MSc in Psychiatric Research from University College, London. In the 1990’s, Dr Dabbagh returned to her roots and published many papers as well as a book entitled ‘Suicide in Palestine: Narratives of Despair.’ The book explored the influence of occupation on one’s mental health; the stressors and hardship associated with war as well as the resilience borne out of a sense of community and belief in a cause.
