Nadeem Karimbux DMD, MMSc

Dr. Nadeem Karimbux is the Associate Dean for Academic Affairs at Medicine in 1993. He assumed the position of assistant dean for dental education at HSDM in 1998. From 2005 to 2012 he was the program director of the Advanced Graduate Education Program in Periodontology at HSDM. He assumed his current position at TUSDM in 2012.

Dr. Karimbux was on the Council of Faculty for the American Dental Education Association for four years. He has served as site visitor for the Commission on Dental Accreditation. He has been on the board of editors for the Journal of Dental Education and was an associate editor for the Journal of Periodontology and MedEdPORTAL. He is the Editor for the Journal of Dental Education and he is the online Editor for Carranza’s Clinical Periodontology text-book.

Dr. Karimbux has received numerous honors during his academic career, including the G.W. Teuscher Award from the American Society of Dentistry for Children, the Periodontal Educator Award from the American Academy of Periodontology, and Distinguished Faculty Awards from the Harvard School of Dental Medicine. In 2010 he received the Presidential Citation from ADEA. In 2015 Dr. Karimbux received the TUSDM Provosts Teaching and Service Award.

Dr. Karimbux is a Board Certified periodontist. He is a member of the American Dental Association and the American Academy of Periodontology. He was a staff member at Childrens Hospital Boston where he treated children and young adults with periodontal disease. As a clinician Dr. Karimbux has been involved in several studies looking at periodontal and bone regeneration, peri-impalntisitis and the links between oral and systemic health. Through out his career he has received peer-reviewed and private funding.
