Mutsumi Matsukawa MS, PhD

Mutsumi Matsukawa is an Associate Professor at the Nihon University School of Medicine in Itabashi, Japan. He is working on the plasticity of the nervous system, especially on the functional anatomy of the limbic system. He has studied the regulation mechanism of the number of synapses by biological amines and the effect on the memory acquisition process. Olfactory information is the only sensory information that is directly input to the limbic system. Currently, he is analyzing changes in neural activity during the odor-stress response and its alleviation process.
